LOUISIANA -- A federal jury has found a Shreveport stockbroker guilty of threatening Whitby-Oshawa MP Jim Flaherty.
Lloyd D. Tiller Jr., 59, returned to court Thursday morning and was allowed to remain free on bond until a sentencing hearing is held in January.
In 2007, federal authorities charged with two counts of sending a threatening interstate communication. Mr. Tiller sent threatening e-mails to the Canadian finance minister after tax changes that cost Mr. Tiller's clients millions of dollars.
Mr. Tiller has admitted sending two e-mails to the finance minister but said he never intended to carry out any threats.
The jury deliberated a little more than an hour before finding Mr. Tiller guilty.
Mr. Tiller faces up to five years in prison, a $250,000 fine or both on each count.
