Sep 09, 2008 - 02:19 PM

BEAVERTON -- Police are on the lookout for a suspect after a teenaged girl reported being followed and groped by a stranger late Friday in Beaverton.

The 17-year-old told Durham police she was walking across the parking lot at the Independent Grocer store in the village at about 11 p.m. when she was approached by a man who made lewd comments before grabbing her. The man remained outside the girl's car, banging on the driver's side window and attempting to open the door after she got inside the vehicle, police said.

The suspect is described as a heavyset white man in his 40s with short, dark greying hair and a big nose. He wore blue jeans, a long-sleeved shirt and black boots and reeked of alcohol and cigarettes.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call police at 905-579-1520, ext. 5323 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
