Mutilated cats found in Oshawa

Nov 27, 2008 - 03:47 PM

OSHAWA -- Police are sounding the alarm after the discovery of two mutilated cats in Oshawa.

The unsettling discoveries were made three weeks apart in different neighbourhoods. Police are trying to track down both the owners of the cats and the perpetrators of the violence toward the animals.

The most recent incident occurred Oct. 25 when a person walking in a park in the Highgate Avenue - Central Park Boulevard neighbourhood found a cat with its head detached, police said. The animal appeared to be a grey tabby cat with green eyes; the cat had been fitted with a bright pink Hartz flea collar.

In an Oct. 1 incident a cat with its head and legs cut off had been displayed near a playground in Greenbriar Park in the Harmony Road North - Adelaide Avenue East area, police said.

Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to call police at 905-579-1520, ext. 5200 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
