Take a hike on Mother's Day

May 09, 2008 - 12:10 PM

WHITBY -- If you're looking for something to do with mom this Mother's Day weekend, why not take a hike.

This year the Central Lake Ontario Conservation is holding a Mother's Day Wildflower Hike and Tea. The event will be held on Saturday, May 10, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Heber Down Conservation Area. The event is free but registration is required.

During the hike participants will learn about the flowers' names, some folklore and how to grow native plants. There will be many opportunities for photos. The hike will start from the group camping parking lot at the northeast corner of Lyndebrook and Country Lane roads. Remember to dress for the weather, wear walking shoes and bring your camera. At the end of the walk there will be an old-fashioned tea.

To register, contact Cathy Grant at the Conservation Authority office at 905-579-0411 ext. 108 or e-mail cgrant@cloca.com.
