PICKERING -- With welded sculptures portraying his inspiration and vision, Geordie Lishman presents 'Assemble'.
Running Aug. 5 through Sept. 20, 'Assemble' is featured at Gallery 364, 364 Kingston Rd. in Pickering, with an opening reception Friday, Aug. 8, from 7 to 10 p.m. The free exhibition and workshop are suitable for the whole family.
At the opening, Lishman will conduct a hands-on workshop on-site focusing on creating an outdoor installation on the grounds of the Durham West Arts Centre using driftwood and other found objects.
Lishman, born June 1, 1975, was raised at his family's rural studio in Blackstock, Scugog. His style has been greatly influenced by his parents: Bill Lishman, known for founding Operation Migration, which aids in creating migratory routes for birds; and Paula Lishman of Paula Lishman Limited, the International Sustainable Fur Fashion Company.
The Lishman exhibition is a continuation of the Durham West Arts Centre's focus on world-class artists who live and work in Durham. Others recently featured include Olex Wslanko and Michael Semak, as well as a juried exhibit facilitated by Port Perry's Meta4 Gallery. Future displays include Oshawa artist Ian Cavanaugh and Whitby's Sean McQuay.
