Traffic snarled on eastbound lanes, west of Thickson Road

May 12, 2008 - 02:36

WHITBY -- Police arrested two people after a stolen car swerved under a tractor-trailer on Hwy. 401 near Thickson Road on Monday.

The two occupants of the car were caught nearby after running away from the accident scene, according to Ontario Provincial Police. There were only minor injuries reported, said police.

The accident, which happened just before noon, resulted in traffic backing up for kilometres as police investigated.

The car was wedged beneath the trailer part of the rig in front of the rear wheels for about an hour before being removed.
