Boy, 15, charged in Pickering sex assault

Jul 03, 2009 - 08:34 AM

PICKERING -- A 15-year-old boy has been charged with the sexual assault of a woman who was attacked in her Pickering home in February.

It's believed the suspect is a former neighbour of the 59-year-old woman, who was sexually assaulted after she awoke to find someone inside her Krosno Boulevard home sometime after midnight on Feb. 14, Durham police said.

After a lengthy investigation the boy was arrested at a Whitby residence Thursday morning. Police say information from the public as well as DNA evidence assisted the investigation.

The teenager is to be charged with sexual assault. His identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
