Uxbridge heritage train on track for another season

UXBRIDGE - The York-Durham heritage train will roll out of Uxbridge Sunday, June 1, to begin a new season.

On that day, regular Sunday round trips will begin between Uxbridge and Stouffville until Oct. 19. The only two Sundays regular trips will be unavailable are June 15 and Aug. 24.

Trains operate a scheduled service on Sundays only. Saturdays are reserved for special runs and activities.

Round trips depart from the Uxbridge station at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., and from the Stouffville GO station at noon.

Return fares for the 2008 season are $22 for adults, $14 for children (two to 12 years old), and $20 for seniors and students (13 to 17 years old). Children under two, who do not occupy a seat, travel for free.

A family pass for up to two adults and three children is available for $65. Group discounts and one-way fares are also in effect.

For the second season, horse-drawn wagon rides will meet the lunchtime train at Uxbridge station to take passengers on a tour of downtown Uxbridge. There is no additional charge for these rides.

- June 7 - Unionville Festival

- June 14-15 - Anne of Green Gables Festival

- June 15 - Father's Day

- June 28 - Stouffville Strawberry Festival

- July 6 - Teddy Bear Run

- Aug. 23-24 - trips to Doors Open in Markham/Unionville

- Halloween and Santa trains will run in late October through December.

The train is available for birthday groups, company and church picnics, school field trips and other community and family events.
