UXBRIDGE -- An 83-year-old West Hill man faces a number of charges after a motorist rammed a vehicle on an Uxbridge road and fled the scene.

Durham Regional Police say at about 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, a Chevrolet Malibu travelling south on Concession 7 near Sandford Road ran into the back of a car driven by a Beaverton woman, who was stopped for construction. The impact left the woman's car, a Hyundai Accent, badly damaged and pushed up against an embankment, but police say her injuries are not serious.

Police say there was an argument, after which the Malibu driver continued south for about 200 metres before removing the vehicle's license plates and fleeing the scene. Several cruisers converged at the scene, and the West Hill man was located a short while later by police at a farm property, according to Sergeant Nancy van Rooy.

Herbert Ogorman, of Centennial Road in West Hill is charged with fail to remain, operating while under suspension, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and no insurance.
