Great Big Sea plays Oshawa this fall
OSHAWA -- Great Big Sea is making a return visit to the General Motors Centre this fall.
And Michael Flatley is bringing his Lord of the Dance show here, too.
Great Big Sea, which played Oshawa's first Celtic festival last year, is returning for a concert Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. The band will be followed by Lord of the Dance on Nov. 25 at 7:30 p.m.
The Newfoundland-based band promises a good show and great music, which band members say comes from the sea, cliffs and rocks of Newfoundland. The band has toured extensively and released nine albums, including Fortune's Favour, the most recent.
Flatley is the artistic director of Lord of the Dance, after originating the role. The show features traditional and modern Celtic music and dance in a dramatic presentation that has been seen around the world by millions of people.
Tickets are on sale now for both events. Tickets for Great Big Sea are $49.50 or $57.70 plus service charges. Tickets for Lord of the Dance are $65 or $52.50 plus applicable charges with a 10 per cent discount for groups of 15 or more and for seniors 65 and over.
Tickets are available at Ticketmaster outlets, the General Motors Centre ticket office, 99 Athol St. E., by phone at 905-433-9494 or 416-870-8000, or online at www.ticketmaster.ca.
Other shows this fall at the GM Centre include Thomas and Friends Oct. 6, Alice Cooper Oct. 8 and Lipizzaner Stallions Nov. 6 and 7.
