OSHAWA -- Two men are in custody following a possible home invasion in Oshawa Friday morning.

Durham police were on the hunt for about two hours, looking for two men who were on the run, shedding clothing as they went, in the Stevenson Road area of Oshawa.

Details remained sketchy even after the men were taken into custody, but chatter over a scanner monitoring local emergency services during the incident indicated a man may have been injured by pepper spray in an apartment on Grenfell Street, in the Park Road and Gibb Street area of Oshawa.

Emergency personnel were called to the address at 10:20 a.m. by a woman who was one of three people inside the apartment at the time, said Durham police spokeswoman Sergeant Nancy van Rooy. The woman asked for an ambulance. The two suspects took off, running.

The two men were said to be "taking off clothing as they were running," Sgt. van Rooy said.

The incident is not thought to be random and it's not believed there is or was any threat to public safety, Sgt. van Rooy said.

Police remained on scene Friday afternoon, completing forensics work.
