Jul 29, 2010 - 11:57 AM

OSHAWA -- A Brampton man arrested in Oshawa last week was found with $4,000 worth of cocaine tucked in a baby seat in the back of his car.

On July 22 at about 10:30 p.m., Durham police were patrolling Gibb Street when they saw a man climb out of a luxury vehicle and approach a prostitute.

When police approached the man, he fled on foot, throwing away his cell phone.

Police caught the suspect after a short chase and discovered 40 grams of cocaine in a baby seat in the back of his BMW. The suspect also had more than $1,100 on him.

Police seized the drugs, money and the $45,000 BMW under proceeds of crime legislation.

Sheldon Duane Jackson, 34, is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, obstructing a police officer and failure to comply with recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing.

Anyone with information about this investigation is asked to call 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5100 or make an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
