OSHAWA -- A 79-year-old Blackstock woman is in hospital with serious injuries after a three-car collision in north Oshawa on Wednesday.
Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Winchester Road and Ritson Road just after 3:30 p.m. on July 28.
According to police reports, the elderly woman was driving her Lincoln north on Ritson Road when she failed to yield and was hit by a van driving west on Winchester Road. The Lincoln then collided with a Chevrolet Uplander that was stopped at the intersection.
The driver of the Lincoln was trapped and had to be removed by emergency responders. She was rushed to Lakeridge Health Oshawa with life-threatening injuries and was later transported to St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto where she remains hospitalized.
"It happened in a matter of two seconds," said Daniel Ryan, a passenger in the third vehicle. "We're fine, but I'm just worried about the lady," he said referring to the elderly driver.
The driver of the van was treated for minor injuries at Lakeridge Health Oshawa and released, while the driver of the third vehicle was not injured.
