Thickson Road ramps at Hwy. 401 to remain closed most of the day

Nov 20, 2009 - 08:41 AM

DURHAM -- Ramps on Hwy. 401 at Thickson Road in Whitby are closed following a collision which knocked down hydro lines.

The eastbound ramp to Thickson Road southbound, and the westbound ramp to Thickson Road northbound and southbound, will be closed for up to 12 hours as repairs are done.

Around 8:30 a.m., the Tim Hortons plaza at Thickson Road and Champlain Avenue was closed, entry to it blocked by pylons.

Drooping hydro wires could also be seen along the westbound 401 for at least 200 feet. No injuries were reported in the collision.

Repairs are expected to continue for the day as workers replace poles in the area, according to Whitby Hydro.
