PORT PERRY -- A group of teens will be knocking on Port Perry residents' doors on Halloween night -- but they won't be looking for candy.
Instead, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church parish teen group members, of various ages, will be collecting non-perishable food items for Operation Scugog.
Earlier in October, participants handed out flyers to Port Perry residents informing them of their mission to contribute to the food bank this season.
"We recognize that local families are in need of food supported by Operation Scugog," said John Tigo, the event organizer. "Plus, it's a great way for the teens to show their commitment to the community and helping others."
The collectors will be easily recognizable by the wagons and large blue buckets they'll be pulling around to store donations in.
The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church parish group members will begin collecting donations throughout Port Perry starting at sunset on Oct. 31.
