Walking tour revisits 1884 Port Perry fire

Heritage committee presents historical tour on Friday

PORT PERRY -- Take a stroll back in time this Friday and discover how a devastating fire 125 years ago shaped the Port Perry downtown core of today.

Scugog's heritage committee is offering a free walking tour of Port Perry's historic downtown core on July 3, beginning at 7 p.m. Led by Peter Wokral, the committee's chairman, the tour will look back at the impact of the fire and detail how it changed the look of the downtown business area.

The tour will start from the Township building, 181 Perry St., and wind its way through the streets of downtown Port Perry.
