OSHAWA -- The General Motors line that produces the Impala has added another award to the company trophy case.
The recognition came from customers participating in the annual J.D. Power and Associates Initial Quality Study. The results of the study garnered the factory a Silver Plant Award.
There was a difference of one point between the local plant and a Honda plant in the U.S. that got the gold, GM spokeswoman Adria MacKenzie said.
The bronze went to another GM plant in the U.S., Ms. MacKenzie said.
The Impala was also recognized, ranking third in the large-car segment, according to a release from the company. "These awards come as a result of the plant's commitment to quality and a solid track record of industry-leading performance," the company statement said.
Oshawa General Motors plants have won many J.D. Power and Associates awards in the past, including a Founder's award last year. The award recognizes outstanding customer service.
