Dec 14, 2008 - 04:30 AM

DURHAM -- Four men are facing fraud-related charges after they were seen installing a skimming device on an ATM inside a Pickering bank.

Durham Regional Police major fraud unit investigators were called to a Scotiabank ATM Thursday. They confirmed the skimming device was still attached to the ATM and identified two vehicles involved in the incident.

Both suspect vehicles were stopped and four men were arrested. They are Abdul Hussaini, 21, of Ajax; Mohammad Abouelalla, 21, of Toronto; Ramy Musa, 22, of Toronto; and Omid Fatahi, 23, of Pickering.

The men have been jointly charged with attempted fraud over $5,000, possession of two credit card forgery devices, unlawful possession of credit card data and conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

All four men will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at 242 King St. E. in Oshawa on Friday for a bail hearing.

The investigation is continuing into other ATM tampering that has occurred across the region in recent weeks.

Anyone with information related to ATM skimming operations is asked to contact Jeff Caplan of the major fraud unit at 905-579-1520, ext. 5702. Anonymous tips can be made to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) and tipsters may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.
